Charlie Baggs Culinary IDEA BOOK

I was tasked with helping out the culinary powerhouse Charlie Baggs Inc. They were looking for a way to stand out against the competition in Chicago by highlighting each of their services to their restaurant operators. It needed to be fun, unique and memorable. So naturally, I decided this was the best project for me because I love color. With all of my clients I begin with an Idea Book. It’s a PDF full of the best case scenario wishlist we could do and then we launch with what is feasible.

I started out with a mood board to get the creative juices flowing.

Did I mention that I LOVE food?

I began drawing on my ipad using Procreate to get down my initial thoughts and ideas. We went through a lot of variations to get the final look they were wanting. Here is a process video of one of the icons.

Never underestimate the power of spot illustrations. They can provide a unique and memorable story to your brand.

We then started expanding the color palette to fit the iconography we developed. It wasn’t this exact color palette. The purple came later as a rich, elevated necessity to the overall design. I’m glad we added it in as an added feature.

The last piece was to work around how these icons would look in real life. So I put together a mockup of a one pager they could give to their clients. Based off of the service they provide, the page would change color and icon to reflect that service and experience. Making each part of their customers’ overall time unique and customary.
