Top 5 Reasons You Are a Creative Human Being

I just want to clarify one thing. This article is not just for creatives. It's for anyone in ANY line of work. If you're a human, then congrats! I wrote this article specifically for you.

It's so easy to get stuck in that rut. The daily grind can really get your goat and you can find yourself going through the motions but not really ENJOYING the motions. Am I right?

I just want to tell you 5 quick reasons why you're a creative human being. It's important that you believe in your creativity for your physical and mental health, your outlook on life and your effect on those around you. This is not only in your work life, but also your personal life too! If you have a corner in your mind that allows you to think freely, you're less likely to micromanage, stress and be frustrated in other parts of the day. Still not convinced? Check out this Forbes article called "Here's How Creativity Actually Improves Your Health". Now after you've read that, let me convince you that you're creative.

  1. You are wearing clothes.
If you're in a nudist colony, maybe skip this one. But for everyone else, if you put on clothes (even just another set of pjs) you made a decisiontoday. (Although I guess arguably you not wearing clothes is a decision too). Something as small as choosing your outfit, making your lunch and listening to a particular podcast is a creative choice.

  2. You find something and/or someone funny.
I'm notorious for bringing up old funny things I've said before. All of my friends know I'm like "Hehe remember that time I said that pun and you all laughed? Good times." Why do I do this? Because I LOVE making people laugh. I also love laughing too, it sparks creativity, and smiling really can lift your spirits. ADDED BONUS jokes and creative storytelling really can boost your imagination and creativity.

  3. You've imagined fake scenarios in the shower/bathtub/mirror/car/maybe toilet.
TMI. Wherever it is, somewhere you are imagining situations or circumstances that haven't happened yet OR maybe will never happen. For me, it's in the kitchen when I'm washing dishes, but in my mind, I'm the back-up dancer for Beyoncé. Hey, there is a 99.999999999% chance it won't happen, but at least my pans are clean.

  4. You're on social media, in some way.
Okay, if you're reading this article, you're probably on social media. Hear me out. If you have posted, reposted, snap-chatted or retweeted anything on your profiles, then you are a creative human being. At its most basic form, social media is way to create content and share it with others. Did you take a picture? Choose a filter? Write a caption? Make a tweet? Heart someone else's post? I firmly believe that any interaction on social media stems from a creative mind!

  5. You're inherently made to create.
Whatever it is that you do or desire to become: accountant, grocery store clerk, president, CEO, author, stay-at-home parent, or simply just being a human, there is a need for creation. There is a need for YOUR voice, YOUR input and YOUR opinion in this world. Unfortunately, not everyone will always ask you for your insight, so it's up to you to believe in yourself and step into the light so others can see it.

Maybe everyone will see your creativity, or maybe no one, the size of the audience doesn't matter,
what matters is your tenacity and grit to share it with the world.
